NSU | B.Sc. in Environmental Science and Environmental Management

The Department of Environmental Science and Management (ESM) offers a BS degree in Environmental Science and Environmental Management, open to students from diverse academic backgrounds (science, arts, or commerce) depending on their higher secondary education. The program aims to develop students’ understanding of key environmental areas, including current global environmental issues. Modeled after similar programs at leading North American universities, the curriculum also addresses local needs. Practical training is provided through state-of-the-art laboratories focused on pollution control, environmental chemistry, microbiology, and GIS. Field trips offer students firsthand experience with environmental resources and issues in Bangladesh. The department’s modern facilities, including the Environmental Science Teaching and Research Laboratory, Geographical Information System (GIS) Laboratory, and Environmental Modeling Laboratory (funded by the UGC-World Bank’s HEQEP), support this hands-on training.

General Requirements

• Math and Physics with a minimum B grade in HSC OR
• Math & Physics with a minimum C & E grade respectively in A-Levels OR
• Math and Physics with a minimum C grade in O-Levels AND must have Math or Physics with a minimum C grade in A-Levels to be eligible to apply.
• Combined GPA of 8.0 in both SSC and HSC with minimum GPA 3.5 in each
  OR
• GCE O-Levels and A-Levels: O-Levels in five subjects with a minimum Average Grade Point of 2.5 and A-Levels in two subjects with a minimum Average Grade Point of 2.0. Only one ‘E’ Grade is acceptable in combined O & A-Levels. (scale A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1)
  OR
• US High School Diploma, IB Diploma Programme (IB-DP) or equivalent.

Admission Test:

• Candidates must take and pass the NSU Admission Test.
