EWU | BSS in Information Studies
East West University’s Bachelor of Information Studies is designed to respond to the rapidly growing demand for knowledge and information, particularly within the fields of education, knowledge management, and research and development. Recognising the central role of information in modern society, the programme emphasises the critical importance of effective information and knowledge management across a wide range of organisations and institutions. Students are provided with advanced-level knowledge and practical skills in the evaluation, collection, organisation, dissemination, and preservation of information, enabling them to navigate and manage complex information environments with confidence.
The curriculum covers a broad yet interconnected range of areas, including information communication, archiving, digitisation and preservation of recorded knowledge, e-resources development and management, information sources and services, web technologies, and web-based information services. In addition, students gain expertise in information architecture, information system design, information literacy, automation of information institutions, web content management, information marketing and public relations, and the management of information institutions. Through this comprehensive and practice-oriented approach, the programme aims to develop a skilled cadre of professionals equipped to lead and innovate in knowledge management and related fields.
General Requirements
- Minimum GPA of 3.00 in both SSC and HSC examinations (Minimum GPA 2.40 in Diploma In Engineering under Bangladesh Technical Education Board).
- Passed University of London and Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level in at least five subjects and ‘A’ Level in at least two subjects. Out of these seven subjects, a candidate must have at least 4B’s or GPA of 4.00 in the four subjects and 3 C’s or GPA of 3.5 in the remaining three subjects.
- American High School Diploma (GED diploma is not acceptable).
Admission Test: Candidates must take and pass the EWU Admission Test.
